When I wasn't able to get my litter with Compass the previous year, trying to get a litter out of him was still on my mind. My friend Taylor Squires of Chasing the Wolves had just gotten a new girl Marci from Brenda Mackey's kennel the previous summer and I was very interested in her. She had a gorgeous structure, amazingly sweet and easy-going temperament, and loads of drive - not to mention her natural gift in lead. Paired with Compass' laid-back temperament and leading ability, I thought they would be a fantastic pair. Because of some genetic disease weirdness from the previous Women Musher's litter, leading me to consider spay/neutering all of them, and because the numbers were right, I decided to pursue this litter. I leased Marci from Taylor and she gifted us 6 beautiful puppies.
One of the little girls was born half the weight of the others. She fought so hard to live and despite her vigorous nursing, she kept losing weight. We switched to tube feeding but she did not make it and crossed the rainbow bridge at just 5 days old. Teeny was the tiniest, toughest little fighter.
